Scandi Standard, the largest chicken company in the Nordic Region, has been created
CapVest Equity Partners (‘CapVest’) and Lantmännen Economic Association (‘Lantmännen’) have created a new, leading company in the chicken market with sales of more than SEK 5 billion. The new company, named Scandi Standard, has acquired Danpo in Denmark and the Kronfågel group in Sweden from Lantmännen, and Cardinal Foods AS in Norway from CapMan.
The competition authorities in Denmark, Sweden and Norway have approved the deal between Lantmännen and CapVest, and the deal was closed today, 4 June. The new ownership structure will enable the company to further develop the business.
“Setting up this new company is a positive step for everyone involved. We’re creating a firm foundation that will give us a collective focus on the chicken business. We’re bringing together some of the strongest brands in Scandinavia. They represent white, healthy and climate-smart chicken and we could not have done this at a better time. We’ll now be in a better position to develop our products and innovate, which will enable us to provide greater added value for our customers and consumers,” says Leif Bergvall Hansen, the proposed CEO of this new company.
“We decided to call this new Group ‘Scandi Standard’ as we are proud of the standards that Scandinavian chicken production is famous for. We produce chicken of a uniquely high standard from an international perspective. Our job will be to deliver locally-sourced chicken of the highest quality, and we will continue to focus on quality, animal welfare, food safety and sustainability,” says Leif Bergvall Hansen.
CapVest will have 52 percent of the votes in this new company and Lantmännen will have 48 percent.
